Abstract

This poem is meant to encapsulate a feeling I experienced for the first time last summer when I was at the cusp of my coming of age and suddenly arriving in a new space. I would ask questions and I would get answers back. I made things, I pursued my desires, I felt very deeply. I had expected the feeling to die down when the winter came around, but miraculously, it stayed. It represents the epiphany that this past year has been for me, and the confusion and potentially wonderful chaos that marks growing up. I like the question of what if, because it acts as a reminder that we can only become what we first envision.
