Abstract

“QUEERSPACE” is a poem that resists the expectation that queerness should not take up space. I use white space and gaps between words to celebrate the visibility of queer love. In a time when holding hands as a queer couple in public feels scary, I feel that this poem is important in reminding us that visibility is resistance. I want the imagery in this poem to show the innocence and value of queer love; it is not something secretive or dirty, but joyful and empowering.
