Abstract

In “Gas Station Revolution,” an unsettling encounter at a gas station draws attention to harmful social structures like capitalism and patriarchy. At the same time, an everyday activity like buying gas reflects feelings of complicity and helplessness in less-than-ideal conditions. Even in situations that feel overwhelming or beyond control, resistance can sometimes be surviving, and remembering that doing so is still life. A livable future becomes possible when we focus on agency.
