Abstract

How does one reclaim pleasure after hospitalization? This poem reflects on my experience with psychiatric hospitalization. Medication made me doubt every sensation. I was uncertain of myself and relied on the external—only to rediscover pleasure within.

Amy Wang is a Chinese-Canadian writer based on the unceded territory of the Syilx Okanagan People. Their work is forthcoming or published in Paper Shell, The Goose, The Garden Statuary and exhibited in IGNITE! Youth-Driven Arts Festival. They are currently an MFA student at University of British Columbia (Okanagan).
