Abstract

Sun of our Palestine is a poetic piece addressing the privilege of some and the suffering of others without overlooking the fact that each human being is interconnected to their equals. This poem aims to address the small forms of pleasure that can be found every day, even in the rubble.

Author Biography

Amira Maturo

Amira Maturo is a UBCO fourth year student majoring in psychology and minoring in Gender, Women and Sexualities Studies. Amira is passionate about Intersectional Gender Equity and applying it in the everyday life. Amira fosters those values by being a volunteer as an Equity Ambassador at the Equity and Inclusion Office and Consent Ambassador at the Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office. Being a volunteer is Amira’s way of giving back to the community and being in touch with theirs. During Amira’s free time, they enjoy crochet and jumping on trampolines.
