Abstract

I originally wrote this piece about 7 years ago for a creative writing class, and it has been a ‘living’ work since, as I’ve periodically returned to it. My hair has always been a defining feature for me, and in retrospect, it has reflected my journey as I’ve grown to recognize and represent myself authentically. This piece describes the process of exploring, reimaging, and redefining the self, embodied through a means of self-expression. 

Author Biography

Enya Duffield

Enya Duffield is in the third year of her BA with a Major in Psychology and Minor in Gender Studies. She is interested in queer studies, neurodivergency, and research ethics and methodology. She intends to pursue a Master’s and PhD, with the goal of helping to develop and promote research methods that are inclusive of and beneficial to marginalised groups.
