Abstract

This piece is a reflection on the protests and events of the Black Lives Matter Movement and the death of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. I resisted institutional and societal racism by celebrating my natural hair. I am closing the gap between my sense of self and the pressures and oppressive systems of institutional and systemic racism that affect how I position myself in the world.
