Compétences interculturelles et accompagnement des familles migrantes dans une perspective de citoyenneté
Abstract
Diversities are inherent in any population. They must be understood through their intersectionality. In this context, ‘living together’ is a social necessity. Current events show us that this process generates antagonism between social groups. However, social cohesion is possible if lifelong learning strengthens the intercultural competence of citizens and educators in a broad sense. With this backdrop, socio-educational work with immigrant families cannot avoid the impact of social relations. These relations define the positions of each. In fact, majorities and minorities are continually recomposed. Thus, we propose a support model for adult communities as part of an integration project that has been operating for several years in French-speaking Belgium. This project concerns groups of immigrant women of Moroccan origin. The result is a critical analysis of the posture of the ‘citizenship educator’ posture as well as some recommendations supported by the psycho-sociological literature.
